Machining

PLP utilises a mix of CNC (3-Mills, 3-Lathes) and Manual (1-Mill, 5-Lathes) machines, optimising production runs of single or thousands of units. The team continually develops specialised jigging and setups, applying clever tooling techniques to minimise waste whist improving throughput and quality.

New CNC Machines

Introducing two new HAAS CNC Machines ST25 Lathe and VF-2SS-V to our manufacturing department in 2023. The VF-2SS-V feautures a 12,000-rpm, inline direct-drive spindle, an ultra-fast side-mount tool changer, and high-speed rapids on all axes. Its high performance super-speed vertical machining centers provide the high spindle speeds, fast rapids, and quick tool changes necessary for high-volume production and reduced cycle times. The new ST25 Lathe replaces a 33yr old machine and is an obvious choice to complement the existing smaller bar fed ST15Y Lathe.

In 2020, 1 new HAAS CNC milling machine & 1 new Haas CNC lathe arrived at our PLP NZ factory. The HAAS VF-3SS milling machine provides high spindle speeds, fast rapids, and quick tool changes necessary for high-volume production and reduced cycle times.

All of the above mentioned machines supports our locally designed and manufactured Distribution, Transmission and Substation range, increasing our range of stock and special fittings made by PLP NZ.
