Covid-19 Policy
All Customers, Suppliers, Contractors, Consultants, Visitors at Preformed Line Products, Auckland and Wellington.
Preformed Line Products, New Zealand, (PLP) have been reviewing the necessary steps we need to take to ensure we have a safe work environment for our employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and other visitors to site in Auckland and Wellington. The same consideration also extends to when our staff are visiting other business premises. PLP also needs to ensure that any person(s) coming to site in either Auckland or Wellington does not compromise any of our employees and our business operations.
PLP is an essential services business and we have diligently kept our manufacturing, engineering and warehouse operations completely functioning through all of the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
We have recently seen publicised by the government a number of guidelines and restrictions that come into effect from 03 December 2021 onwards with the new framework or traffic light system as it is often referred to.
What has PLP done in reviewing its requirements to operate safely?
Since the beginning of COVID-19 back in 2020, we have had in place all the required safety measures in the workplace including hygiene measures, PPE, distancing requirements and the requirement to remain away from work if feeling unwell and following public health advice. These measures have been well communicated with employees and remain in place to ensure a safe workplace.
Now that New Zealand is opening up to live with the virus, we need to look at what else we need to do to protect our team and those we deal with at work.
We fully recognise that getting vaccinated is an individual choice and that no one can force anyone else to be vaccinated if they do not believe it is right for them. We will not enter debate into the rights and wrongs of vaccination on a scientific or medical level and nor will we tolerate anyone being harassed or bullied as a result of the decisions they make for themselves.
With those things said, we firmly believe that our decision to require vaccination is the only safe way for us to be able to continue operating in the current environment in New Zealand.
Moving forward.
As the country moves into the framework, on Friday 3 December, this marks a shift into a new way of managing COVID-19.The traffic light system is the governments new way of managing COVID-19. It is designed to keep us safe as we possibly can by supporting their new strategy of minimising and protecting against COVID.
The new framework is set up a little like a traffic light, with three settings:
Red, Orange and Green
Red is the highest setting, used when COVID poses the most risk in the community, and Green is the lowest setting. Different regions across NZ can be at different settings, with no regional borders in place.
How will it keep us safe?
The new framework has a number of requirements at each setting to keep our communities safe. This includes things that will be familiar from the alert level system, such as wearing face coverings in some places and scanning in wherever we go.
As mentioned, we already have in place all of the safety measures required in our workplace to operate at this level.
Entry to PLP premises from 03 December 2021 onwards, all visitors to site, i.e. non-PLP employees must wear a face covering and produce evidence of your MY Vaccine Pass;
Across all settings of the new framework, vaccine passes are now a key part of the framework. They’ll ensure our workplaces are safer, adding an extra layer of protection for people who can't be vaccinated, e.g. like young children, at present.
No matter what setting our regions are at, using a My Vaccine Pass will enable you and for PLP to carry out business as best we can in the new world of Covid.
Why vaccination is important?
Being vaccinated is important because it provides an extra layer of protection. Under the new system, if you’re not fully vaccinated or you haven’t got around to getting a My Vaccine Pass, there will be everyday things you miss out on. Having all staff vaccinated and procedures in place to stop unvaccinated people onsite we are doing the best we can to keep everyone at work safe.
What does this mean for entry PLP from 03 December 2021 onwards?
NO VACCINE PASS
NO ENTRY
NO EXCEPTIONS
PLP appreciates your understanding of this requirement and willingness to work with us in keeping our employees safe and maintaining our business continuity so that your business can do the same.
