Aged Conductor Testing

PLP New Zealand’s also offer investigative testing of aged conductors to discover the remaining mechanical properties. This testing includes, but not limited to, temperature rise testing, joint resistance testing, strand and conductor mechanical testing etc. Further testing such as environmental testing and mass loss analysis etc can also be conducted upon request. PLP complies all the results of mechanical and other testing on the conductor samples and provides an extensive report that outlines the capabilities of the conductors. Aged conductor testing allows the client to gain valuable knowledge of the condition of conductors before deciding to replace large line sections, which could potentially prevent line failure and prevent unnecessary spending.
